Pakistan's amazing victory against Sri Lanka in the first Test in Galle has resulted in a massive shift inside the top five on the World Test Championship standings.

On Wednesday, 20 July, Babar Azam's team successfully chased down 342 runs to achieve a remarkable four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka, boosting their prospects of participating in next year's World Test Championship final.

With the victory, Pakistan moves past of Sri Lanka and into third position in the World Test Championship standings, with only South Africa (71.43 percent) and Australia (70 percent) ahead of the Asian team.


Sri Lanka, however, drops three places to sixth in the standings with a 48.15 win-loss percentage.

As a consequence, India moves up to fourth place (52.08 percent) while the West Indies go up to fifth place (50 percent) ahead of the second Test between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Galle next week on July 24,2022.
